Matt has over 14 years of experience as a CPA specializing in tax, real estate and business consulting. As managing partner of his previous firm, he advised individuals, families and closely held businesses on tax matters and business transactions. While working as a consultant, Matt focused his efforts on helping entrepreneurs grow their businesses and develop an eventual exit strategy.
At True North Mergers and Acquisitions, Matt strives to ensure sellers get the most from their. life’s work. In recognition of his accomplishments at Sunbelt Business Advisors, Matt received the 2019 Sunbelt Torch Award for successfully closing 8 transactions and “fueling the entrepreneurial fire in buyers and sellers alike.” He has a depth of experience to navigate his clients through the complexities of the sale structure and tax consequences to ensure sellers net the most from a sale – not simply the highest sales price.
While Matt is a generalist at True North Mergers and Acquisitions, working with businesses from all industries within the lower middle market, he specializes in accounting practice sales. He has spent the last two years networking with accounting practice buyers and sellers with the goal of selling more accounting practices than anyone in Minnesota.
Matt is a licensed CPA and Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) in Minnesota. He graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in Economics and Management Studies and continued his studies at Carlson School of Management.
Outside the office, Matt enjoys family, tennis, and travel.
