Brian's vision for a Lower Middle Market M&A firm focused on family- and founder-owned companies grew out of his success with Sunbelt Business Advisors, the largest business brokerage in the country. With roots in main street business and extensive experience in national transactions, he recognized the opportunity to create a new type of M&A advisory firm—one that understands the unique needs of family- and founder-owned companies and delivers results beyond traditional models. He spearheaded the spinoff of True North Mergers & Acquisitions from Sunbelt Business Advisors, establishing one of the fastest-growing firms in the nation.
Throughout his career, Brian has invested in numerous independent operating companies, eventually forming the foundation of today’s True North Family of Companies. Using his own capital, he acquired controlling interests across diverse industries, building a portfolio of small businesses with broad reach. His experience spans building start-ups, acquiring existing businesses (including distressed companies), facilitating exits, and serving as a limited partner and board member for multiple organizations.
Brian and his wife are co-founders of the True North Family Foundation, a charitable nonprofit that provides academic scholarships, supports community initiatives, and funds capital projects.
